About the event

Galliford Try is offering workplace visits for groups of up-to 12 students plus teaching staff to the Wigan Galleries site.

The Galleries Redevelopment is a transformational multi-phase project to create a vibrant new retail, leisure, commercial and residential destination in the heart of Wigan town centre, transforming it into an attractive and accessible place to live, work and visit.

Wigan Council, site landowner, is working with strategic development partner Cityheart Ltd, who have appointed Galliford Try for the first phases of construction.

The visit will give students an opportunity to see the site during the early stages of construction on the former Galleries site.

Galliford Try is managing bookings directly. Please email all booking enquiries to Hannah.Williams2@gallifordtry.co.uk.

Activities

Each 1-hour visit is delivered by the Project Manager and includes a presentation about health and safety, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the live construction site (hard hats and PPE will be provided).

The visit also explores career opportunities in construction, including some of the less obvious roles in design, planning, and pre-construction teams, along with some myth-busting.
