About the event

The Hagley Road residential development is located at 431–433 Hagley Road, Birmingham, on a previously developed vacant site within an established residential area. The project is delivering 32 new homes. Once finished, the development will make an important contribution towards meeting Birmingham’s growing housing needs, particularly for older residents.

The scheme comprises the erection of two residential blocks providing 30 self-contained apartments designed specifically for the elderly, alongside two new bungalows. Associated works include the formation of parking areas, landscaping and new site access, creating a safe, attractive and accessible living environment.

The site benefits from a highly sustainable location, with excellent access to shopping, leisure and community facilities in Birmingham City Centre, Bearwood and Harborne. Frequent public transport links are available along Hagley Road, supporting sustainable travel and reducing reliance on private vehicles.

Surrounded by existing residential properties, the development has been carefully designed to respect its context, enhancing the character of the Conservation Area and contributing positively to local distinctiveness while maintaining an appropriate relationship with neighbouring homes.

Overall, the project represents a well-considered residential scheme that balances housing delivery, accessibility and design quality within a sustainable urban setting.

Activities

All visitors will begin their visit with a short site safety briefing, including GEDA Construction’s standard induction video, which must be completed before entering the live construction site. This ensures everyone understands the safety requirements and what to expect during their visit.

The first part of the session will take place in the site cabin, where the Site Manager and Social Value Lead will provide an overview of the Hagley Road development. This will include information on the purpose of the project, progress to date, design considerations and how the scheme is supporting local housing needs. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

The second half of the visit will include a guided tour of the site, allowing attendees to see the development taking shape first-hand. Key elements of the build will be highlighted as the tour progresses, with further opportunities for questions throughout. By the end of the visit, visitors will have a clear understanding of the project and its wider community impact.
