This project is being delivered under IHP, the joint venture between VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine.
The project is a number of refurbishments over a two-and-a-half-year programme, which include a newly refurbished Same Day Emergency Care (S.D.E.C) ward, Maternity ward, Lung Function departments, RAAC roof replacement and a full hospital fire compartmentation upgrade.
A brief overview:
Whilst the hospitals loft space fire compartmentation is under design review internally. The first phase will consist of two concurrently run projects, RAAC replacement and lung function reception. The RAAC project consists of building a scaffold out of courtyards nine and ten, forming access platforms, loading bay, material hoist and a temporary roof. RAAC panels are cut individually into 5 sections and are hoisted down into the courtyard ten where the pieces will be transferred through the hospital into an enclosed skip. Subsequently the metal decking, insulation and roof finishes are completed, scaffold is then struck.
Concurrently the lung function reception works will be carried out comprising of service isolations, soft strip out and remodelling to house those currently occupying S.D.E.C.
Welfare facilities up until the end of February, will be situated in phase two lung function due to other ongoing Trust works, the welfare has been relocated to outside of the university entrance.
Once phase One lung function reception was complete on March 27th, staff currently situated in S.D.E.C have moved in allowing the refurbishment of the rest of Lung function area again comprising of strip out and refurbishment.
In order for patients to move into phase 2, phase 3 lung comprising of emergency escape staircase must be installed, however due to recent findings below ground, the staircase is currently being redesigned to suit our findings.
A separate project awarded to IHP is OPD, OPD enabling works is currently being undertaken. The whole project comprises of a full strip and remodification of the old medical records area.
Following the findings of Homertons EPC report a number of improvement have been identified. Solar PVC, External wall insulatuion and replacement windows quotes are being sought to improve the EPC levels. Quotes are being sought in preparation of these works.
The project is a P23 Framework Agreement project that is being undertaken by Integrated Health Projects, a joint venture between Vinci Building and Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd. Vinci Building will be leading the project and thus their documentation formats are being used.
This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.3 million CSCS-logoed cards.
At present there are many works that are being undertaken on the project, including drylining, M&E, grid works, demolition works, piling, steel erection, install of PV panels, scaffold erection, flooring, window install, replacement of loft insulation.
Visitors will see how the construction is being undertaken and will be able to speak to the trades people on site and have conversations on how the works are being carried out, this will give them a very good insight on how the construction methods are being applied
