About the event

The site is situated between Birmingham and Coventry, running north from the River Blythe to Coleshill, crossing three major highways the A45, M42 and M6. Key features include the interface
with the new HS2 Birmingham Interchange Station, along with watercourse crossings at Hollywell Brook and Shadow Brook.

This section will take 45-50 million hours to construct, with a workforce of over 10,000 at its peak.

The northern section from the M42 to Coleshill starts with the M42 twin boxes, crosses the M6 and extends to the Coleshill Embankment. This section includes the construction of three embankments, two underbridges and one composite viaduct over the M6.

The site of the new Interchange Station is approximately 2.5 km long, expanding to six tracks through this stretch. The whole area of the Interchange Ststaion previously had industrial use including landfill and quarrying. The area surrounding the site is ring-fenced by major roads the M42, A45 and A452, and the station will link to the existing Birmingham International Station via an Autoumated People Mover.
