HS2 is Britain’s new zero carbon, high-speed railway, and the UK’s flagship transport levelling up project. It is the biggest rail investment ever made in the North of England and is Europe’s largest infrastructure project.
Major civil engineering works are now underway with £23 billion contracted into the supply chain and around 350 active sites between the West Midlands and London, supporting almost 30,000 jobs, delivering benefits before a single train has started running.
HS2 is more than a railway, it is an investment in Britain’s future. We are upskilling Britain, providing new jobs and new long-term careers for people from every part of the UK.
There are now over 28,500 jobs supported by the programme and more than 3,000 businesses have delivered work on HS2 so far. Over 1,200 of the 2,000 expected apprentices have already taken their first career steps on the project
The construction of Britain’s new high-speed railway will produce a legacy of highly-skilled and experienced work force who will help UK industry to flourish in the future, at home and abroad.
As construction continues at pace on the first phase of HS2, between the West Midlands and London.
