At the heart of London’s innovation hub, Imperial College London’s White City Campus, Careys has played a vital role in shaping the future of this world-class research and education district. Their work, spanning multiple complex projects, has helped lay the foundations for groundbreaking scientific advancements and cutting-edge collaborations.
One of the most ambitious challenges Careys tackled was the installation of eight massive steel beams over the Central Line—an engineering feat that would pave the way for a new bridge connecting key areas of the campus. With precision planning and execution, the final beam was successfully placed, marking a critical step in the expansion of Imperial’s White City vision.
Beneath the surface, another remarkable project unfolded. Careys was entrusted with the construction of a vast, nine-meter-deep basement—an essential component of the campus’s future infrastructure. Spanning 1,225 square meters, this subterranean space would serve as a vital link between upcoming developments, reinforcing the structural integrity of the entire site.
Meanwhile, as the White City Campus continued to grow, Careys took the lead in developing South IDP Area A, a crucial section of the master plan. As principal contractor, they embarked on a two-year mission to bring this part of the campus to life, with work commencing in May 2023 and set for completion in May 2025.
From bridge-building over live railway lines to crafting deep basements and shaping new research spaces, Careys’ contributions to Imperial College London’s White City Campus tell a story of engineering excellence, innovation, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of construction. Each beam, foundation, and carefully laid concrete slab is not just part of a project—it’s a step toward a future of discovery and progress.
