The market redevelopment consists of construction of a new F&V market whilst the existing is gradually migrated into the new with demolition taking place in phases. Whilst the new market is constructed the traders will continue to trade from their existing units.
The scope of the Works is the design, construction, completion, testing and commissioning of the Works, comprising:
All works are to be undertaken in a phased sequence.
Due to the phased execution of the works the duration of the scheme is expected to be 10 years 6 months.
Fruit & Vegetable Market -The new Fruit & Vegetable Market blocks approx. 50,000m2 in area will be located to the west of the main Market Site; the buildings being single storey, steel framed clad with profile sheeting, floors are resin coated concrete and the units are sub-divided with composite panels.
The tenant units are formed as a shell with independent services however high bay lighting and high level sprinklers are installed in each unit. Each unit will have a sectional overhead door.
Tenants are responsible for their own fit-out.
23m long concrete hard standings are to be constructed external to the blocks on each side of these double-fronted market buildings.
Ongoing works will be asbestos removal which no one will be able to review and we will be breaking the external slab.
