Multimillion-pound expansion of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) of the new four-storey healthcare facilities.
This project is being delivered under IHP, the joint venture between VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine.
The development – set to transform patient care across the region – includes four new clinical floors, an expanded and modernised Emergency Department, and a number of features designed to improve both patient experience and staff wellbeing.
Key features of the build include a major upgrade to the hospital’s front entrance, providing a safer, more welcoming arrival point for patients, families, and visitors. The expansion also introduces protected ambulance canopies, enabling paramedics to transfer patients directly into the Emergency Department in all weather conditions.
Sky gardens, located on the 3rd and 4th floors, will offer calming, therapeutic outdoor spaces for patients, visitors, and staff – bringing natural light and greenery into the centre of clinical areas.
As the building moves into the next stage of construction, internal works will focus on fitting out clinical spaces, installing advanced medical equipment, and completing the landscaping surrounding the new entrance.
