The Strule Shared Education Campus, located in Omagh, County Tyrone, is one of the largest and most complex education projects currently being delivered in Northern Ireland. The campus represents a pioneering approach to shared education, bringing together pupils from multiple traditions across the controlled, maintained and voluntary sectors within a single, integrated development.
The campus will accommodate six post-primary schools: Arvalee School & Resource Centre, Christian Brothers Grammar School, Loreto Grammar School, Omagh Academy Grammar School, Omagh High School and Sacred Heart College. Each school will retain its own identity and ethos while sharing specialist facilities, learning spaces and campus infrastructure.
From a construction perspective, the project involves the delivery of multiple large school buildings, shared sports and specialist facilities, extensive site-wide infrastructure, and external works, all constructed concurrently within a live, highly coordinated programme. Works include structural steel frames, reinforced concrete substructures, specialist roofing systems, internal fit-out, drainage, road infrastructure and landscaping across a large campus footprint.
The scale and complexity of the site require careful planning, collaboration and sequencing, with a strong focus on health and safety, quality control and stakeholder engagement. The project also supports modern construction methods, digital design coordination and sustainable practices.
Once complete, the Strule Shared Education Campus will provide a high-quality, future-focused learning environment while delivering long-term social, educational and community benefits for the Omagh area.
Visitors to the Strule Shared Education Campus Open Doors event will view the project from a designated, segregated viewing platform, allowing safe observation of a large, live construction site without requiring PPE. From this vantage point, visitors can see multiple buildings under construction simultaneously, along with site-wide infrastructure and external works across the campus.
Members of the project team will be on hand to explain what is happening on site, how the works are coordinated, and the different roles involved in delivering a project of this scale. Visitors will learn how construction teams plan, sequence and manage complex programmes safely and efficiently.
There will be opportunities to ask questions, view drawings and visuals, and gain an insight into modern construction methods, teamwork and career pathways within the industry.
