About the event

The proposed development is for residential (social housing) comprising of 3no. apartment buildings containing 40no. apartments (housing mix as follows) with associated in curtilage parking and landscaping.

The housing mix is as follows:

  • 12no. own door 3p/2b ‘duplex’ apartments (general needs)
  • 12no. 3p/2b ‘CAT 1’ apartments
  • 8no. 3p/2b apartments (general needs)
  • 4no. 2p/1b apartments (general needs)
  • 2no. 2p/1b (own door) wheelchair apartments
  • 2no. 3p/2b (own door) wheelchair apartments

The scheme will have a new boundary SDB fence with individual front gardens, new private roadways and footpaths, access pathways, communal garden areas, drying/bin store areas, parking and
landscaping.

Apartment blocks will consist of a masonry load bearing structure with precast concrete slabs to upper floors. Non load bearing walls will be block-work at ground level and lightweight partitions at first floor
and above.

The roof will be a supplier designed timber truss roof with upvc goods; block-work cavity external walls with render and brick-work finish externally; pvc triple glazed windows/composite doors, and zinc clad canopies; new M&E (mechanical and electrical) services; associated site-works to provide level access and parking.

The scope of works includes:
The demolition of the existing petrol station and the construction of 40 nr apartment across three buildings. These comprise of piled and traditional foundations, precast suspended floor slabs with block walls. Roadways will be constructed from Tarmacadam and the footpaths Asphalt. Access pathways will be constructed of Bitmac and brushed finished concrete complemented with soft landscaping compromising of ground cover shrub planting and trees in communal areas and topsoil with grass turf to all private garden spaces throughout the development. The buildings will have an external finish of charcoal and yellow brick alongside soft self-coloured render.

Activities

The site visit will include a presentation overview of the project by the site manager and engineer.

A site tour will be included.

For younger groups we will be having demos of cat scanners and dumpy levels.
