An Introduction to the Fencing Industry with Littlewood Group
Littlewood Group is the UK’s leading specialist fence installation contractor. Established in 1996 with a £40m turnover and a directly employed workforce, we operate throughout the UK in the high security, infrastructure, traditional fencing, barrier and automation markets.
We offer the full in-house design, supply and installation of general fencing systems & hoardings, high-security & electric fencing systems, hostile vehicle mitigation, automated gates, vehicle restraint & parapet systems, environmental noise barriers, access control, pedestrian & vehicular access systems, pedestrian guardrails, and all associated groundworks.
Activities
Fancy a career in fencing, or want to know what we are all about? Here is a chance for us to show you the fantastic range of careers available within the fencing industry at Littlewood Group, showcasing the job roles available from the initial point of enquiry through to project completion.
The day will start with a warm welcome into our industry from our HR team who will provide you with CV tricks and tips and mock interviews to support entry into your chosen role.
Our team of Estimators and Quantity Surveyors will then be ready to introduce you to the world of sales and commercial success during a short presentation.
Later, our specialist in-house Mechanical and Structural Design team will introduce you to 3D CAD modelling with interactive activities and prizes.
Following a brief presentation by our Project Contracts Managers, you will be provided with your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by our Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) team who will also be assessing your knowledge with an on-site hazard perception quiz.
As you near the end of your day, it is all hands-on deck with a practical demonstration from our on-site fencing team who will be showing you how to safely construct general fencing. You will support the fencers by marking out your working zone, scanning for buried services with our Cable Avoidance Tools (CAT), digging by hand or using plant and finally constructing the fence itself.
The day promises to be fun, full of interesting facts and exciting skills to learn. You will confidently be able to enter the fencing industry with a full understanding of the roles that are available to you.
